This standard is applicable to design, fabrication, testing, installation and operation of subsea production control systems in the oil and natural gas exploration. It contains requirements to subsea production control systems.This part of ISO 13628 covers surface control system equipment, subsea-installed control system equipemnt and control fluids. This equipment is utilized for control of subsea production of oil and gas and for subsea water and gas injection services. Where applicable, this part of ISO 13628 can be used for equipment on multiple-well applications.This part of ISO 13628setablishes design standards for systems, subsystems, components and operating fluids in order to provide for the safe and functional control of subsea production equipment.This part of ISO 13628contains various types of information related to subsea production control systems. They are-informative data that provide an overview of the architecture and general functionality of control systems for the purpose of introduction and information ;-basic prescriptive data that shall be adhered to by all types of control system;-selective prescriptive data that are control-system-type sensitive and shall be adhered to only when they are relevant;-optional data or requirements that need be adopted only when considered necessary either by the purchaser or the vendor.In view of the diverse nature of the data provided, control system purchasers and specifiers are advised to select from this part of ISO 13628 only the provisions needed for the application at hand. Failure to adopt a selsctive approach to the provisions contained herein can lead to overspecification and higher purchase costs. Rework and repair of used equipment are beyond the scope of this part of ISO 13628.

This International Standard specifies the requirements for the performance of allsemiconductor power converters and semiconductor power switches using controllable and/ornon-controllable electronic valve devices.The electronic valve devices mainly comprise semiconductor devices, either not controllable(i.e. rectifier diodes) or controllable (i.e. thyristors, triacs, turn-off thyristors and powertransistors). The controllable devices may be reverse blocking or reverse conducting andcontrolled by means of current, voltage or light. Non-bistable devices are assumed to beoperated in the switched mode.This standard is primarily intended to specify the basic requirements for converters in generaland the requirements applicable to line commutated converters for conversion of a.c. power tod.c. power or vice versa. Parts of this standard are also applicable to other types of electronicpower converter provided that they do not have their own product standards.These specific equipment requirements are applicable to semiconductor power convertersthat either implement power conversion or use commutation (for example semiconductor selfcommutatedconverters) or involve particular applications (for example semiconductorconverters for d.c. motor drives) or include a combination of said characteristics (for exampledirect d.c. converters for electric rolling stock).This standard is applicable to all power converters not covered by a dedicated productstandard, or if special features are not covered by the dedicated product standard. Dedicatedproduct standards for power converters should refer to this International Standard.NOTE 1 This standard is not intended to define EMC requirements. It covers all phenomena and thereforeintroduces references to dedicated standards which are applicable according to their scope.NOTE 2 A large part of this standard, particularly for power transformers, is covered in IEC 61378-1.

There areadditional parts of this standard that provide specific requirements for the different types ofpower converters, such as Part 2 - inverters. Additional parts may be published as newproducts and technologies are commercialised.
