This International Standard applies to hot-rolled steel sheet ofnhigh yield stress structural quality with the use of microalloyingnelements. The product is intended for structural purposes wherenparticular mechanical properties are required. It is generally usednin the delivered condition and is intended for structures that mayninclude bolting, riveting and welding.nBecause of the combination of higher strength and microalloyncomposition, it is possible to obtain savings in mass, along withnbetter formability and weldability as compared with steel sheetnwithout microalloying elements. The product is produced on a widenstrip-mill, not a plate mill.nThis International Standard does not cover steel intended fornboilers or pressure vessels, steels designated as commercialnquality or drawing quality (covered by ISO 3573), steels to benrerolled to cold-reducing products, steels designated as weatheringnsteels, having increased atmospheric corrosion resistance, ornsteels having improved form
This International Standard specifies requirements fornhot-rolled steel strip of structural quality in the grades andnclasses listed in Table 1, usually without the use of micro allyingnelements. This product is intended for structural purposes wherenparticular mechanical properties are required. It is generally usednin the delivered condition and is intended for bolted, riveted ornwelded structures. It is commonly rolled on a narrow stripnmill.nThis International Standard does not cover steels designated asncommercial quality or drawing quality (covered in ISO 6317) ornsteels intended for boilers or pressure vessels, or steels to benrerolled to cold-reduced products, or steels designated asnweathering steels, having increased atmospheric corrosionnresistance.
This International Standard specifies requirements forntolerances for hot-rolled steel plates made on a reversing millnwith the following characteristics:na) nominal thickness: 3mm ≤ t ≤ 400 mm;nb) nominal width: w ≥ 600 mm.nNOTE 1 Tolerances for products of width < 600 mm, cut or slitnfrom plate, may be agreed between the manufacturer and purchaser atnthe time of ordering.nThis International Standard applies to, but is not limited to,nsteel grades defined in all parts of ISO 630, in ISO 9328-1 to ISOn9328-6 and ISO 683-1, ISO 683-2, ISO 683-10 and ISO 683-11.nThis International Standard does not apply to stainlessnsteel.nIf not otherwise agreed, to tables in AnnexnA apply to steel grades defined in AnnexnA of all parts (except Part 1) of ISO 630 or in ISOn9328-1 to ISO 9328-6.nIf not otherwise agreed, to tables innAnnex B apply to steel grades definednin Annex B of all

The values listed are not exact conversions of the values in Tables8201;1 to 31 inclusive but are, instead, rounded or rationalized values. Conformance to Annex A1 is mandatory when the x201c;Mx201d; specification designation is used. Note 1x2014;The term x201c;weightx201d; is used when inch-pound units are the standard; however, under SI, the preferred term is x201c;mass.x201d; 1.3x00a0;Annex A2 lists the dimensions of some shape profiles. 1.4x00a0;Appendix X1 provides information on coil as a source of structural products. 1.5x00a0;Appendix X2 provides information on the variability of tensile properties in plates and structural shapes. 1.6x00a0;Appendix X3 provides information on weldability. 1.7x00a0;Appendix X4 provides information on cold bending of plates, including suggested minimum inside radii for cold bending. 1.8x00a0;This general requirements specification also covers a group of supplementary requirements that are applicable to several of the above product specifications as indicated therein. Such requirements are provided for use where additional testing or additional restrictions are required by the purchaser, and apply only where specified individually in the purchase order. 1.9x00a0;In case of any conflict in requirements, the requirements of the applicable product specification prevail over those of this general requirements specification. 1.10x00a0;Additional requirements that are specified in the purchase order and accepted by the supplier are permitted, provided that such requirements do not negate any of the requirements of this general requirements specification or the applicable product specification. 1.11x00a0;For purposes of determining conformance with this general requirements specification and the applicable product specification, values are to be rounded to the nearest unit in the right-hand place of figures used in expressing the limiting values in accordance with the rounding method of Practice E29. 1.12x00a0;The text of this general requirements specification contains notes or footnotes, or both, that provide explanatory material. Such notes and footnotes, excluding those in tables and figures, do not contain any mandatory requirements. 1.13x00a0;The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded separately as standard. 1.1 This specification covers high-strength low-alloy, hot rolled structural steel plate for use in truck frames, brackets, crane booms, rail cars, and similar applications. Steels that conform to this specification offer improved formability. These steels are normally furnished as rolled. The product is furnished in two types and four strength grades as agreed upon between the producer and purchaser. These types and strength level grades are shown in the tables. 1.2 The maximum thickness of plates shall be as follows:Grade Plate Thickness, max in. [mm]502 [50]6011/2 [40]701 [25]803/4 [20]1.3 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with this specification. See Appendix X3 of Specification A6/A6M for information on weldability. 1.4 For plate produced from coil, the additional requirements, including additional testing requirements and the reporting of additional test results, of Specification A6/A6M apply.
