This test method provides a means of establishing specular gloss limits for bright, semi-mat, and mat glazed surfaces. It is realized that specular gloss measurements do not always correlate well with visual rankings of glossiness because specular gloss is only one of several related appearance attributes that produce the sensation of gloss. However, the prescribed test method is of sufficient accuracy for the intended purpose. Note 18212;If a greater degree of distinction between bright glazed surfaces is desired, the 20x00B0; geometry instrument will provide it.4 1.1 This test method covers the determination of 60 specular gloss of glazed ceramic whitewares and related products.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This standrd specifires the permissible limits for the release of lead and cadmium by ceramic cookware intended for use in contact withfood.
Specifies permisible limits for the release of lead and cadmium from ceramic ware, glass ceramic ware and glass dinnerware intended for use in contact with food, but excluding porcelain enamel articles
This standard specifies sustainability requirements together with assessment methods and evaluation schemes for ceramic sanitary appliances, i. e. WC pans and WC suites in accordance with EN 997, urinals in accordance with EN 13407, wash basins in accordance with EN 14688, communal washing troughs in accordance with EN 14296 and bidets in accordance with EN 14528. This standard may be applicable to other ceramic sanitary appliances.
This European Standard specifies test methods for thendetermination of the water absorption of ceramicnarticles.nThree test methods are described:n- test method A, based on the increase in mass of test specimens after immersion in boiling water under defined conditions, which requires test specimens with not more than one glazed surface;n- test method B, based on the same principle and general procedure as method A but with a longer period of immersion in boiling water;n- test method C, based on the increase in mass of test specimens after a combination of evacuation of the test specimens to assist water penetration, followed by immersion in water and boiling; the test specimens may be glazed on both surfaces and are taken from different parts of a ceramic article to include possible inhomogeneities of the article.nNOTE Values of very low water absorption should preferably be determined by test method C.
